What should I expect if I were to become a new patient?

If you are thinking about becoming a new patient, that's great! Please continue reading to determine whether naturopathic medicine and my practice will be a good fit for you.

A new visit will typically be 1-1.5 hours in length. The main complaints, health goals, a health history and any prior lab will be reviewed. A physical exam is usually conducted and may be a focused or a general comprehensive exam depending on what is necessary. Depending on what the health goals are, further lab work or testing may be done to help determine the cause of any health problems or gather more information necessary to guide a particular treatment plan.

Treatments may vary depending on what is best for the patient and what the health goals are. A list of services can be found by clicking on "treatments" on the menu bar. The first treatment is usually started right after the initial visit to either help provide symptomatic relief, to help future treatments work more effectively or to start addressing the root cause. The treatment in subsequent visits will be further refined as more information is gathered either from testing or the patient.

Follow up visits depend on what kind of treatment is being utilized and are usually 30-45 minutes in length. The follow up visits tend to be more frequent in the beginning of a treatment plan and then less often as time goes on. If acupuncture is part of the plan, follow ups may be 2-3 times per week depending on what needs to be addressed.

When chronic conditions are being treated, the goal is to develop a long-term relationship with the patient to hopefully lessen their dependency on medications and frequent doctor visits. Although patients can get better quickly, usually the longer you have been out of balance, the longer it takes the get back into balance.
